This was in response to a question about why she showed more sympathy with male characters than female characters. It just goes to show you that a silly question does not always produce a silly answer.

i wonder why no one asks certain male authors why they feel more sympathy for women than men (like Wally Lamb, amongst others)? it’s somehow okay for them, but a female writer SHOULD be writing about women, right?
