About

I write mostly short stories and dabble with screenplays. If truth be told I don’t ever expect to be published, nor do I ever expect to sell a screenplay, let alone have one optioned. Don’t misconstrue this as being cynical or defeatist.

Why then, do I do it? The best answer to that question is, because it’s the cheapest vacation I can think of. What I mean by that, is when you create a world full of various characters and events, it’s better than reading a good novel. One has control over the people, places, and events in a world and reality of one’s choosing. All of this can be done simply by letting your mind wander and rudimentarily organizing it all with the act of writing it down. I’m sure Freud would have a thing or two to say about all of this. Thankfully, he’s dead. I suspect it may have something to do with the same reason so many children have “imaginary friends”, though I’m not sure.

I have been writing for self gratification since I could pick up a writing device. I have journals, letters, doodles, and blurbs dating back to my teen years. I remember writing things as a small child that have long since disappeared into the chaotic maelstrom that followed the divorce of my parents, never to be found again.

In short, I write because I love to write.
