2012 That Was Close…
In recognition of the Friday opening of 2012 I’ve decided to post this little news blurb:
Although no one noticed at the time, the Earth was almost hit by an asteroid last Friday.
The previously undiscovered asteroid came within 8,700miles of Earth but astronomers noticed it only 15 hours before it made its closest approach.
Its orbit brought it 30 times nearer than the Moon, which is 250,000 miles away.
I must admit that I absolutely love “End Of The World As We Know It” scenarios. It’s a guilty pleasure I suppose. No, I don’t consider zombie stories as part of a EOTWAWKI scenario. I simply consider zombie stories stupid.
But that’s another discussion.

Guerilla Poetics Project
Sometime ago, while sitting and sharing a wee dram of Scotch, Justin told me about an idea that he and some fellow poets had come up with. They call the idea the Guerilla Poetics Project and what a great idea it is. Their mission statement of returning poetry to the people by subversively putting it into their hands is executed in such an ingenious way that I strongly advise you (writers of all types and genres) to check it out. I’m making the heady prediction that this will be a grand success.
I will be making a permanent spot in my links shortly.

New Blog, First Post
Since this is the first post of this site I feel compelled to express just why the hell I’m doing it. Of course, it would be easier if I really did know just why the hell I’m doing it, which I don’t. I know exactly why I write, it’s all here,
The best answer to that question is, because it’s the cheapest vacation I can think of. What I mean by that, is when you create a world full of various characters and events, it’s better than reading a good novel. One has control over the people, places, and events in a world and reality of one’s choosing. All of this can be done simply by letting your mind wander and rudimentarily organizing it all with the act of writing it down. I’m sure Freud would have a thing or two to say about all of this. Thankfully, he’s dead.
I’m just not exactly sure of the purpose of the site. The nearest I can come to explaining the purpose of this web site is that it’s a place for me to talk about what I’m working on, how I’m doing it, and what I’m doing with it. Hopefully, over time, I’ll meet other writer types and learn something along the way. Other than that, I don’t know exactly where this site will go. So, the only thing I do know about this site is that it will focus on writing.
We’ll see what happens from here.
